Scope
This policy covers copyright takedown notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent notices under other law, for content stored on infrastructure Azzamo operates: the Azzamo relays and Azzamo Blossom media storage. Azzamo is operated from Paraguay and serves a largely US and EU audience; we honor valid takedown notices regardless of where they originate.
Content on Nostr is replicated across relays run by many operators. We can remove content from our own infrastructure; we cannot remove it from relays or media hosts we do not run.
Designated agent
Notices of claimed infringement should be sent to our designated agent:
[DMCA AGENT NAME — pending registration with the US Copyright Office] Azzamo Email: azzamohosting@gmail.com [Postal address]
The fastest way to submit a notice is the report page, which collects every element a valid notice requires.
Filing a takedown notice
To be valid under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a notice must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
- Identification of the infringing material and enough information for us to locate it — a Blossom file hash or link, a Nostr event id, or a public key.
- Your name and contact information.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We review valid notices promptly, remove or disable access to the material on our infrastructure when the notice is well founded, and notify the user whose content was removed when we have a way to reach them.
Counter notice
If your content was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter notice to the designated agent containing: identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the removal was a mistake, your name and contact information, consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or any judicial district in which Azzamo may be found, if outside the US), and your signature. If we receive a valid counter notice we forward it to the original claimant, and unless they notify us they have filed a court action, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days.
Repeat infringers
We track takedown notices against the public key involved. A key that accumulates repeated well-founded infringement notices is blocked from our services, and paid time is not refunded. Isolated or successfully countered notices do not count toward this.
Illegal content is handled faster
Reports of content that is illegal independent of copyright — child sexual abuse material, terrorist content and the like — are not DMCA matters and do not wait on DMCA timelines. Use the report page and mark the report as illegal content: such reports are reviewed on an expedited basis, the content is removed immediately when confirmed, and where the law requires it we report to the competent authorities.
Other complaints
For trademark complaints, privacy complaints, or content that violates our terms of service without being a copyright matter, use the report page with the appropriate category.
